The annual JUNIORSTAV conference took place on May 15.
PhD students and young researchers had the opportunity to present their work, engage in discussions, and build professional connections. This year saw fewer Czech participants compared to previous editions, but there was an increase in international attendees, particularly from Slovakia. Participants also came from other European countries such as Germany, Poland, and France.
The Structures and Transport Engineering section included ten presentations covering steel, timber, concrete and masonry structures, geotechnics, and building testing.
Three contributions focused on concrete structures – two from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at STU in Bratislava and one from BUT.
Tadeáš Fecko addressed the impact of recycled aggregate on the shear capacity of a slab supported at discrete points. Zuzana Haššová focused on the use of high-strength prestressing strands and their influence on structural design. Petr Moštěk, representing the Institute of Concrete and Masonry Structures, presented on the risks and historical development of prestressed concrete truss girders.
